VACANCY NOTICE: FIU INSPECTORS ( x 15 POSTS)

Applications are invited for the position of Inspector (15 vacancies) in the Financial Intelligence Unit. The job entails surveillance and monitoring of traders to enforce compliance with the requirements of the Bank Use Promotion Act [Chapter 24:24] and Exchange Control Act [Chapter 22:05], among other statutory requirements.  

Successful candidates will be posted to FIU stations in either Harare or Bulawayo.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out routine inspections of traders and prepare inspection reports. 
  • Carry out audits of sales and banking records of business entities.
  • Gather information and write reports on market trends related to compliance. 
  • Participate in Anti-Money Laundering / Countering Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) National Risk Assessments programmes.
  • Prepare and serve penalty letters on non-compliant business entities.
  • Man FIU hotlines to attend to complaints by the public and intelligence supplied by whistleblowers.
  • Participate in joint operations with Law Enforcement Agencies. 
  • Execute any other duties as may be assigned. 

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

  • This is a junior position graded at professional entry level within the FIU, with opportunities for growth based on performance.
  • First degree in Economics, Business, Law, Banking, Finance, Forensic Investigation, Accounts, Audit or any other equivalent qualifications.
  • Clean class four driver’s licence would be a distinct advantage.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo and pass appropriate psychometric tests designed to assess aptitude for the job.
