Directives
Directives are issued in terms of section 4 of the Money Laundering & Proceeds of Crime Act.
The Director-General of the Unit may, from time to time, issue written directives of a general character not inconsistent with this Act, relating to the exercise of any functions conferred or imposed on competent supervisory authorities, financial institutions and designated non-financial businesses or professions.
Directives are issued when, in the Director-General’s opinion, they are necessary or convenient to be so issued for the better administration and implementation of the Money Laundering & Proceeds of Crime Act and the Bank Use Promotion Act.
